Austin E. Wert, 80, a former resident of  Crawfordsville, who for several years was employed at the Smith &  Duckworth Lumber Company, died Thursday evening at the Reynolds Nursing  Home in Hagerstown. He had been in failing health the past year.
A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Wert was born Nov 17, 1872, at Waynetown.
His parents were George and Sarah Wert. He married Nellie O. Hendricks of this city Dec 2, 1916.
In  recent years, Mr Wert had resided at 214 N. 14th Street, at Richmond,  Ind. Mr. Wert, who was a carpenter by trade, also lived in Logansport  for a number of years.
Surviving are six sons, Russell Wert,  Ragsdale, Ind., Floyd Wert, Muncie, Wilford Wert, Frankfort, Paul Wert,  Hillsburg, Ind, and Carl and Ikey Wert, both of Richmond; a daughter,  Mrs Leo Bundy, of this city, 16 grandchildren, an aunt, Elizabeth Wert,  Waynetown, and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter.
Funeral  services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Proffitt & Sons  Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Wayentown Masonic Cemerty. The Rev  George T. King will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Austin  born 17 Nov 1872, Fountain County, Indiana, died 21, Oct. 1953, buried  Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown. He first married Harriett [Hattie] Miller  21 Dec, 1892, three children: Floyd, Russell, and Catherine. According  to the records, they were divorced as well. However she died 1923, and  is buried also at Masonic Cemetery.
